Holy Strollers

On Saturday 19th October we will continue to walk along the Fife Pilgrim Way from Kinglassie to Markinch. The start of the walk is up a short steep grassy path and along field edges to Finmont Farm, a short stretch of newly constructed pavement and then another grassy walkway to Leslie. From Leslie we cross the Leslie Viaduct and on to a woodland path which takes us to Riverside Park in Glenrothes which has suitable picnic areas for lunch. After walking through some residential streets we reach Gilvenbank Park and then more street walking, across the A92 and into Balbirnie Park and eventually into Markinch. Please meet at Kirkcaldy Bus Station at 9.15 am in time to catch the 9.35 am Number 32 Bus Service to Kinglassie Reurn will be by train from Markinch to Kirkcaldy. Total distance is between 8 and 9 miles.

We will continue to walk on the 3rd Saturday of every month between March and October, so the walks in 2019 will be on the following dates:-
• March 16th
• April 20th
• May 18th
• June 15th
• July 20th
• August 17th
• September 21st
• October 19th
It had been our intention to walk the new long distance path – Fife Pilgrims’ Way – which was due to open in March. Unfortunately the official opening has been delayed until July. Most of the paths have either been upgraded or new ones established and the way markers are in place, but an area around Kelty still has to be completed and the interpretation/notice boards have to be erected at the key access points. We will start our journey along it towards the end of the summer once it is finally open and the official maps are available. Meantime we will do a variety of walks which have been favourites in past years.
For accounts of all previous walks go to the Walking Group page.
