Young people are an essential part of the worshipping community at Abbotshall. We meet every Sunday during term time from 10.45am in the Church Hall, then we go up to church together for the first part of the service, we normally leave after the second hymn, unless it’s a special occasion and we may stay in for longer.
We then come together in the Kennedy hall where we have an active time learning about the church life through reading, drawing, craft work, dressing up and playing. We discuss together with the leaders what we want to do so there is plenty of chatting and conversation. We also have games indoors and outdoors when the weather is nice.
We welcome children of all ages to join us.
We have special times of the year where we participate in the church service; this can be on special celebrations such as Mother’s Day, Easter, Harvest and Christmas. At Christmas we always put on a show (nativity) each year we start planning in October and have a different theme each year which is fun. At Christmas we always have a party with a disco and games where we can bring along our friends.
During the year we also look at special topics which have included our favourite stories from the Bible including Noah’s Ark, the sower and the Good Samaritan. We have enjoyed fair-trade chocolate and discussed what is fair-trade and what does this mean for us, we have made special surprises for mums and dads including truffles and cards.
If you would like to come along and join us any Sunday we would be very pleased to see you.
All leaders are PVG’d
